Do more on the Patient Page
Did you know you can see a patient's full Clarity history on the Patient Page? Get there by using the "Patient Lookup" box in the menu bar. The Patient Page has patient demographics, a history of referrals, surgery orders and emergency department notifications for that patient, and new with this release, a listing of the patient's care team and all the documents in Clarity for that patient.
A provider or practice gets on the care team when they get a referral or surgery order for that patient, receive an emergency department notification, or are CC'd. So this list grows as more of the patient's care transitions are tracked with Clarity.
The document list also grows with each care transition, when any of the practices involved adds a document. Clarity may also add documents, particularly insurance forms or authorization letters.
You can add a document to the patient's history on the Patient Page. This might be useful for med lists or care directives, or to include a consultant's report for a transition that was managed outside of Clarity. Documents in the patient's history is available for you to include in a referral or surgery order, so this can be a valuable time saver. To add a document for the patient, click the "Upload a file" link in the document section, and simply follow the forms instructions. It is the same dialog you use when adding documents to referrals and surgical orders.
Referring practices control stages when specialists are offline
Many practices are tracking their patients' visits with specialists using the "stage" feature. When the specialist is Clarity Connected, the specialist practice controls this, informing the referring practice when the visit is scheduled, the visit is complete or which a report is delivered.
With this release, referring practices now control the "stage" value when the specialist practice is not Clarity Connected. Simply select one or more referrals from your worklist, then change the stage using the popup menu from the "Stage" link in the footer of the worklist. Or you can open the referral, and change the stage using the same "Stage" menu in the footer of the referral summary.
Attempting to change the stage of a referral to a Clarity Connected practice will have no effect on that referral, since the specialist is online and is responsible for that field.
Enter and update pre-op appointments
We have added a new date field "Pre-Op Date/Time" to Surgical Orders. This allows the surgeon's office and the surgery scheduler to communicate and confirm pre-op appointment dates. After an order has been processed, if the pre-op date changes, the other party is notified with a message flag.
New choices for Surgery Patient Status
Many surgery users had requested that we add "Inpatient" and "Outpatient" choices to the patient status list, so we added them in this release. If the surgeon's practice and the surgery scheduler prefer the original status choices (AM Admit, PM Admit, etc.) you may continue to use those, as they remain in the application.
The Clarity service center is flagged when you change a procedure date for a surgery
Sometimes, a change in the date of a surgery means that the insurance authorization has to be done again, or at least re-confirmed. When either the surgeon or the surgery scheduler changes a date, Clarity is now flagged so that we can pro-actively optain an updated authorization, if required.
